Title:                       Feed Truck Driver

Job Summary:

To ensure delivery of feed to local producers and to work within the feed mill.     

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Delivery of feed to local producers
  • Safety compliance
  • Daily pre-trip inspection your delivery truck prior to leaving for deliveries
  • Assure all fluid levels, i.e. oil, coolant/antifreeze, power steering, washer fluid, and hydraulic oil are at correct levels prior to leaving for deliveries
  • Check all tire pressures with a pressure gauge to verify that the tires are at a safe operating pressure prior to leaving for deliveries
  • Driver will maintain monthly maintenance log on each assigned feed delivery truck/trailer. Log must include beginning mileage as of the first day of the month, all repairs, date of each repair and ending mileage as of the last day of the month. All logs are due into the main office, Fleet Manager by the 10th day of each month
  • Driver will grease as needed/minimum weekly bearings on feed truck body, i.e. gate handles, auger bearings (top & bottom), auger pivot points, lube auger swivel chains and lubricate top lid slide rails
  • Must maintain a clean vehicle both inside and outside, through weekly/monthly outside washing and interior detailing.
  • Driver will grease 5th wheel pivot points weekly, (2 shots/zirk)
  • Driver will grease 5th wheel plate monthly
  • Assist in feed mill with loading customer orders, order taking and office coverage as needed
  • Assist in maintaining clean work environment in the feed mill.
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School degree or GED
  • Must have a valid Kansas Driver’s License CDL Class A or B
  • Must have Hazmat and tanker endorsements or be willing to obtain
  • Must pass a pre-employment Drug Screen
  • Must have a clean driving record 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb to in and out of trucks
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to twist, turn, push, pull and bend
  • Must be able to climb to great heights
  • Must be able to work in extreme environments with dust, heat and cold.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, occasional Saturday as needed and Holiday in emergency situations
  • Hours vary according to delivery needs not to exceed 8 hours worked in a day, or as directed by feed mill manager.
  • Start time will be 8 a.m. daily unless otherwise notified by feed mill manager
  • One hour lunch unless work flow dictates a no lunch or shorter lunch as directed by the feed mill manager
  • All overtime will be pre-approved or as directed by feed mill manager
